The Salaam Baalak Trust Delhi City Walk is an English-guided tour of almost two hours conducted by the children who used to live in the streets of Delhi before joining our Trust. Our guides are adolescents who have been fully trained as local guides and who want to improve their communication and speaking skills. City Walk gets the children's stories heard and gives people a view of their world through their eyes. Led by a teenager at the Trust, the City Walk tour covers the streets of the inner city of Paharganj and the area around New Delhi Railway Station. The respective child is someone who once lived and worked on the streets. This makes the tour special and personal for the tour guide. You will experience a tour far from the typical and touristy places and cover lesser-known attractions. City Walk is an example of how a volunteer's creativity can translate into a unique and enduring programme, which is both popular and economically viable. Over the last 19 years, thousands have taken the Walk and empowered several children, thus helping them to join mainstream life.

Heena
I'm Heena, 22 years old and an alumna of Salaam Baalak Trust. I came to SBT in 2012 through Childline, as my mother was facing financial issues and our home wasn’t safe. She wanted a better life for me, and that’s how my journey began. I’ve always been a curious child, and SBT supported me every step of the way. I’m now in my final year of BA (Hons) English and joined the Salaam City Walk in March 2025 to share my journey. My dream is to become a tour guide and travel the world.

Aarav
I'm Aarav and I'm 24 years old. I first got connected with Salaam Baalak Trust in 2011 when I was just 9 years old. My mother was a single parent so she enrolled me in SBT so that I could continue my education. Even though my siblings and I were living with my family, SBT has always supported us throughout our studies. We’re truly grateful to SBT for their continuous support. Today I work as a tour guide with Salaam City Walk, and I’m proud to share my journey and stories to the people from across the globe.
